President Trump Meets with Kim Kardashian to Discuss Prison Reform

In a landmark cultural exchange, President Trump met with Kim at the White House in an event garnering widespread media attention.

No, not Little Rocket Man – the Kardashian Kim.

On Wednesday, Kim Kardashian West visited the White House in a meeting, with President Trump. The larger-than-life cultural figure with a larger-than-life hourglass figure pushed for the meeting to address prison reform, and specifically the imprisonment of Alice Marie Johnson.

Johnson, serving a life sentence, has been locked up for over 21 years stemming from a drug trafficking and money laundering racket.

In 1992, she was arrested and found guilty. Johnson admits to passing on encoded messages as well as allowing co-conspirators access to her personal telephone in order to transport large amounts of cocaine. Although claiming to never have sold the drugs, or handle the cocaine personally, she ultimately took the brunt of the charges as the scapegoat.

As stated in an ACLU report from 2013,

“The cooperating co-defendants who testifed against her received sentences ranging from probation without prison time to 10 years.”

According to the Associated Press article from 1997, “evidence showed an operation with Texas-based Colombian drug dealers and their Memphis connections trading tons of cocaine for millions of dollars in cash.”

Johnson’s involvement in the illegal operation was preceded by financial woes. Now, she’s a 62 year-old great-grandmother expected to serve out the rest of her days behind bars as a first time drug offender.

CBS News reported that the meeting between Kardashian and President Trump had been planned months in advance with the President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

It is unclear if President Trump plans to pardon Johnson for her charges.

In an op-ed for CNN, Alice Marie Johnson wrote,

“Obama made an incredible push at helping to right the wrongs of our criminal justice system. And under President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner and others have worked to keep clemency and criminal justice reform in the foreground.

Trump has the power to give me a second chance. He truly has the power to change our justice system for the better. I can only continue to be steadfast and hope that he hears me.”

“Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing,” the President tweeted.

Jared Kushner’s prison reform plan for non-violent offenders was also unveiled publicly after quiet planning earlier this month. GQ summarized his rhetoric as “a sham” – despite Kushner’s personal experience from having a father imprisoned for a year.

Making an extremely odd guest appearance in the top comment section of Trump’s tweeted photo with Kardashian was the quickly fading light of David Hogg.

“Why didn’t you ban bump-stocks and raise the age to purchase firearms to 21 when you said you would? Are you afraid of the @NRA?” the teenage talking head tweeted.

Being the (arguably) better half of Kanye West, Kanye’s pro-Trump statements sparked intense controversy earlier this year.

As for the other Kim, President Trump is resuming talks with the North Korean dictator for a possible peace summit later this year after the initial event scheduled for June 12 was canceled.
